Steps I took outside the NET Module installation instructions or specific to my set up:
- Pre-Ordered NET Module 1/2/2009.
- Ran ethernet cable from existing wall port to NET Module.
- Received NET Module 2/18/2009.
- Installed NET Module and connected ethernet cable. Could not get it to work with simple plug-n-play. Will wait to another day when I have more time. (Complete – 2/19 @ 9:34p, total time 30 minutes)
- First issue I ran into which has nothing to with the NET Module, there seems to be an issue with the ethernet run to the tank as the diagnostic tool says there is a short somewhere. (Stopped – 2/20 @ 10:32p, total time 3 hours)
- Resolved the cabling issue by running new Cat 5e through attic to communication box and then communication box to server rack. (Complete – 2/22 @ 3:34p, total time 6 hours)
- Began configuring my set up to handle the NET module. Another issue I ran into which is specific to my network set up. I host my own web server which listens at port 80. I have to have my Linksys Router translate the port for the NET and did not know how to do that without asking. Figured out I needed to configure router with the following:
Now I can use the following URL to access the NET Module: http://JustMyReef.com:7001
(Complete 2/22 @ 7:16p, total time 3 hours) - I have tried everything to get the email notification to work to no avail. Every setting is exactly as it is in my email program and it still does not work giving the error message Test Failed: Error 32769. (Gave Up 2/22 @ 9:18p, Total Time 2 hours)
- I did successfully figure out how to post the feed in the Chemistry section with a little help of a WP plugin (WP-RSSImport). Yea!
- Signed up for a signature generator at ReefChat.org:
- Can not get the email notifications to work and am pleading with DA to determine what it is but realize it is not a priority compared with some of the other bugs they are addressing. I have tried three different accounts (one hosted, one on my server, and another my mac.com account) and all give same error code 32769 which is suppose to indicate bad port. I suspect this is wrong as I have confirmed with all settings to be set correctly. Below is setting for my local server configuration:
- Found the issue with the Email Notification configuration for the NET Module. It ended up being the data which was auto populated in the Network tab was incorrect:
Once I corrected the settings, changing the Gateway to the main router IP and then changing the Primary and Secondary DNS to settings as assigned by Verizon, I was able to successfully test the email settings which I originally had set up the first 10 minutes trying to attempt configuring email notification:
- Installation Complete. Yea! (total time: too many to track, total time minus problem solving issues: 1 hour

Still trying to resolve the error message 32769 attempting to get the email notification to work. Tried setting email port to 25 for SMTP services as outlined by my hosting service instructions. No luck.
Tried an additional account with gmx as suggested on the DA Forums (Email Notification Setup – 32769 error). No luck.
So it appears there are two questions:
1. Is the outgoing stream being blocked?
2. My NET is broken?
The last is unlikely as I can log into it and it is reporting.
I can telnet to the different mail servers so it leads me to believe I have an issue with the NET module. Not sure what to do next.
Yea! Everything is set up and I am finished configuring the NET module.
