hi

i noticed you had no deep sand bed.

i run a bare bottom tank but have a DSB in my sump and have never had a nitrate issue since running my tank for two years now.

a filter sock and good flow over the top of the sand bed is good practice.

Hi I've read through your website. I'm very impressed. Thank you for sharing.

As far the tumble rate is concerned, I changed out my MJ1200 for a Mag3 and had to throttle back the valve on my reactor. I use a Pentair Aquatics fluidized filter reactor as I find can hold more pellets and has better flow for tumbling. My Nitrates are 0.0 and Phoshates are btwn 0.03 and 0.01.

Anyone using this with the updated new adjustable bottom design? Can you update me on how it works and did it solve issue I was having trying to run it without the sponge? Is it still finicky and skims over with no warning?

Geoff,

Thanks for taking the time to document all of your experience with the skimmer! You have shown great dedication to reef keeping and I, for one, truly appreciate all the information you provided.

Thanks!

I have sapphire for my solana and i was excited to buy it, but right when i opened it i knew i was less then impressed. the build quality looks garage built amateur hour. I suspect the same for Euro Reef.
All of them seem to be copying each other's design with just enuf mods to differenate between them.

I want a good company that stands by it's products with parts manuals and STAYS IN BUSINESS!
current, Euro Reef closed it's doors and so has sapphire My gut is telling me to try the Tunze nano Doc w/ Stevie T collection cup. Any feed back?

btw. great artical, I like the follow up you've provided from initial loving' it to .. less then excited about the design flaws. Keep up the great work.
